San Diego plans Día de Muertos and Halloween events amid cooler, rainy weather
San Diego will host numerous Día de Muertos and Halloween activities this weekend as a Pacific storm brings cooler temperatures and rain chances.
San Diego is preparing for a busy weekend of Día de Muertos and Halloween celebrations, with events ranging from traditional altars and catrina contests to family festivals, dog parades, concerts, and horror movie screenings, according to the Times of San Diego.
Downtown Chula Vista will hold a Día de Muertos event on November 1, featuring cultural activities honoring those who have passed. Other parts of the county, from the coast to inland areas, will also have celebrations throughout the weekend.
One highlighted event is at the Margaritaville San Diego hotel, which will host a dog-friendly Halloween-themed afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m., including costume contests with prizes such as a free hotel night for the winning dog owner.
The National Weather Service forecasts a Pacific storm bringing cooler temperatures and increased chances of rain starting mid-week and continuing through the weekend, as reported by FOX 5 San Diego. Residents are advised to drive cautiously due to the expected weather and high event attendance.
Despite the weather, the community is encouraged to participate safely in the many cultural and festive activities planned across San Diego County.
