San Francisco Standard corrects previous report on Studio Montessori incidents
The SF Standard clarifies details about teacher presence, incident classifications, and licensing issues at Studio Montessori.
The San Francisco Standard issued a correction to an earlier report concerning Studio Montessori, clarifying several inaccuracies about incidents at the school. The correction addressed the number of teachers present during a hot tea spill and the location of the tea when it spilled, correcting previous misstatements.
The Standard also clarified the timing of a teacher's firing related to the incident, noting that the first teacher was dismissed four days after the event following a review, not on the day it occurred as previously reported. Additionally, a 2025 incident involving a child found outside the school was reclassified from a “Type A” to a “Type B” incident.
The correction further explained that teachers fired from Studio Montessori are not required to leave the country immediately; they may seek new placements through the Montessori Consortium of California and have 30 days to depart if unsuccessful. Lastly, the report corrected a statement about children napping at an unlicensed facility, specifying that children were found at an unlicensed facility and that the school’s founder was cited for using an unapproved area for napping.
These corrections aim to provide accurate information to the San Francisco community regarding the operations and incidents at Studio Montessori, ensuring clarity on the school's compliance and staffing matters.
