Braves’ Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubon win Gold Glove awards

According to Atlanta News First, Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubon of the Atlanta Braves were awarded Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for their defensive excellence in the 2026 season. Olson received the award as a first baseman, while Dubon was recognized as a utility player.

The Braves had other finalists including left-hander Chris Sale and center fielder Michael Harris II, who were edged out by players from other teams. Olson and Dubon are the first Braves duo to win Gold Gloves in the same year since 2022.

Olson, age 32, joined an elite group of active first basemen with four Gold Gloves. He led all Major League first basemen in innings played, appearing in all 162 games, and topped several defensive metrics such as Outs Above Average and overall fielding run value.

Dubon, also 32, demonstrated defensive versatility by starting at multiple positions including left field, shortstop, center field, third base, and second base. He is the first Atlanta player to win the utility Gold Glove since the award's inception.

The Gold Glove voting process combines input from managers and coaches, who account for 75% of the vote, and the SABR Defensive Index, which contributes the remaining 25% based on advanced defensive metrics.

This recognition continues a strong defensive tradition for the Braves, who have won 12 Gold Gloves across seven of the last nine seasons since 2018.
