SCDOT seeks public input on bridge projects affecting Charleston area
South Carolina DOT requests comments on prioritized bridge improvements, including several in the Lowcountry, by Nov. 11.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is inviting public comments on a list of prioritized bridge improvement projects across the state, including several in the Lowcountry region that encompasses Charleston and nearby areas, WCIV reported.
This initiative follows a $189.5 million one-time funding boost approved by the South Carolina General Assembly earlier this year, which increased the total bridge improvement budget from $239 million to $428.5 million for the upcoming year, WCIV added.
SCDOT has identified key bridge projects for replacement and rehabilitation as part of its ongoing Strategic 10-year plan, which has already seen 550 bridge improvements completed or underway, according to WCIV.
Residents and stakeholders can submit their feedback on the proposed list of bridge projects until Wednesday, November 11. After the public comment period closes, SCDOT will present the finalized list to its Commission during the December meeting, WCIV noted.
