Senator Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said he expects to be reelected as Senate majority leader next month during the Democrats' leadership elections, according to The Hill.

Schumer acknowledged that a few newly elected Democratic senators have expressed dissent and threatened not to support him for another term as leader, but he emphasized that the issue is not about him personally, The Hill reported.

Roll Call reported that Schumer predicted he would lead a larger Democratic caucus than expected, with 54 to 56 seats after the final count.

Both sources indicate that Schumer is confident about maintaining his leadership position despite some internal party disagreements as Democrats prepare for the next Congress.
