Democrat Scott Wiener is expected to win the California congressional seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Nancy Pelosi, local Fox affiliate KTVU reported.

Wiener's opponent, San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, conceded the race Wednesday evening, according to KTVU.

While Decision Desk HQ, a partner of The Hill, has not officially called the race, Wiener holds a lead over Chan.

This development marks a significant transition in the California seat formerly held by Pelosi.
