Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly considering whether to leave the Trump administration following the Republican Party's losses in the recent midterm elections, according to Bloomberg News reporting from Washington.

Sources familiar with the matter say Rubio and his advisers are reviewing options for his future, though he has not decided whether to resign from his roles as top U.S. diplomat and national security adviser. There is no set timetable for any potential departure.

Rubio has discussed the possibility of stepping down with White House officials, who have asked him to stay. However, both the White House and State Department have publicly denied that Rubio is planning to resign, calling the reports "fake news".

It is common for cabinet members to leave during the lame-duck period after major election defeats. Leaving before January would allow President Trump to nominate a successor while the Senate is still under Republican control.

Newly empowered Democrats in Congress plan investigations into several White House initiatives involving Rubio, including attacks on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean Sea. Any new nominee would likely face increased scrutiny from the Senate.
