Jonathan Borrego, the current city manager of Oceanside, announced he will step down from his position on December 18, according to mynewsla.com. This move comes as he vies for the city manager job in Anaheim, where he has been named the finalist for the role.

The Anaheim City Council is expected to consider a proposed employment agreement for Borrego in the coming week, mynewsla.com reported. Borrego expressed pride in Oceanside's engaged community and the city's leadership meeting residents' expectations.

Borrego noted that recent polls indicate the majority of Oceanside residents are satisfied or very satisfied with city services, reflecting the dedication of city staff and council. His departure marks a leadership change for Oceanside as he pursues the Anaheim opportunity.

This development is significant for the San Diego-area city of Oceanside, as it will soon seek a new city manager following Borrego's departure. The transition is scheduled to occur later this year.
