Sen. Mark Warner re-elected to U.S. Senate from Virginia
Virginia Senator Mark Warner wins a fourth term, defeating Republican Bert Mizusawa, AP projects.
Senator Mark Warner has been re-elected to the United States Senate, the Associated Press projected, securing a fourth term in office. Warner, a Democrat, has served as a U.S. senator since 2009 and previously was Virginia’s governor from 2002 to 2006, WTVR reported.
Warner defeated Republican challenger Bert Mizusawa, a retired Major General who previously worked as staff in the U.S. Senate and for the CIA, according to WTVR. The Associated Press declared Warner the winner at 7:00 p.m. EST on election night.
Warner also serves as vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Earlier in the year, he indicated that this 2026 race would be his last, as reported by NBC12.
Warner’s re-election marks the continuation of his long tenure representing Virginia at the federal level.
