As the midterm elections approach, the race for Florida’s 9th Congressional District, which includes Orlando and stretches to Lake Okeechobee, has drawn significant attention, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported.

Incumbent Democrat Darren Soto highlighted his record of securing federal funding for Central Florida projects, citing the $3.4 billion I-4 expansion and over half a billion dollars for Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C expansion as examples. He also pointed to the development of the Lake Nona area from farmland into a medical hub during his tenure.

Republican challenger Dan Green, a military veteran and political academic, emphasized his experience in Florida politics and campaign work, including leading the veterans coalition for Governor DeSantis’ reelection. He criticized Soto’s decade in office, suggesting the incumbent has taken the district for granted and that their values do not align.

Both candidates made their closing arguments available through full interviews on ClickOrlando.com as voters prepare to decide the district’s representation in Congress this Tuesday.
