The South Carolina Stingrays maintained their unbeaten start to the season by defeating the Orlando Solar Bears 5-3 Saturday night at the Kia Center, according to Live 5 WCSC.

The Stingrays capitalized on their power-play opportunities, scoring four goals on six chances. Tyler Weiss led the effort with two power-play goals, including one that gave South Carolina their first lead of the game early in the first period.

Orlando responded with two goals to tie the game at 2-2 by the middle of the second period. However, South Carolina regained the lead with a third power-play goal by Jalen Luypen late in the second period.

In the third period, the Stingrays continued their power-play success with Zack Andrusiak scoring his first goal as a Stingray to extend the lead. Despite a late goal by Orlando, Cam Morrisson sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

Goaltender Ben Kraws made 27 saves and helped the Stingrays hold a perfect penalty kill, shutting down all five of Orlando's power-play attempts, Live 5 WCSC reported.
