Storm Boelo is expected to bring strong winds with gusts potentially exceeding 80 mph to northern parts of the United Kingdom this weekend, according to reports from the Newark Advertiser and other UK news outlets.

An amber weather warning is in place across Scotland, northern England down to Carlisle, and the northeast of Northern Ireland on Saturday, with forecasters predicting widespread travel disruption affecting ferries, trains, and roads in these areas.

Storm Boelo follows Storm Austen, which hit the South West of the UK on Friday and caused power cuts affecting thousands of homes. The National Grid confirmed that engineers restored power to more than 60,000 homes since Storm Austen began.

Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan explained that while Storm Austen impacted the far south of the UK, Storm Boelo will affect the north with very wet and windy conditions expected on Saturday. However, much of England and Wales may see brighter and sunnier weather on Sunday.

The ongoing wet weather is noted as necessary, especially for the south of the UK, which experienced severe drought during the summer. The UK government has warned of the potential for increased flooding risks this winter, linked to climate change's impact on weather patterns.
