Alectra Energy Solutions, in partnership with Convergent Energy and Power, has completed three battery energy storage system facilities in Ontario, according to thesudburystar.com and stratfordbeaconherald.com.

Two of the facilities are located in Vaughan and one in Guelph. All three are now operational and collectively add 320 megawatt-hours of energy storage capacity to the province's electricity grid.

Battery energy storage systems function by storing electricity when it is available and releasing it during periods of high demand. This capability provides the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) with greater flexibility to balance electricity supply and demand.

The new facilities are expected to strengthen grid reliability and support the growing energy needs of Ontario communities. Alectra's leadership highlighted the projects as an important milestone for the province's electricity system.

Ontario is recognized as a leader in carbon-free electricity generation, and these battery storage projects contribute to maintaining that status by enhancing grid stability and supporting clean energy integration.
