Toucan’s on the Beach in Mexico Beach has officially reopened eight years after being damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018, WJHG reported.

Locals and visitors lined up early to celebrate the restaurant’s return, showing excitement for the reopening.

The restaurant now features expanded dining options including downstairs seating, a deck, a tiki bar with live entertainment, and a second-floor sports bar where fans can watch games, according to a partner with Toucan’s.

Original elements from the old restaurant, such as pictures and a sign from Tyndall Air Force Base, have been preserved to maintain the history and memories of the location.

The reopening marks a new chapter for the community, bringing back a beloved landmark and providing a place for people to gather and celebrate.
