A fatal crash occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 75 southbound near Forest Parkway in Clayton County, involving a MARTA bus and a pickup truck, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

According to Clayton County police and Atlanta News First, the pickup truck struck the rear of the MARTA bus. The truck driver died at the scene, while the MARTA bus driver and passengers were unharmed, as there were no passengers aboard at the time.

The crash caused all southbound lanes of I-75 near Forest Parkway to shut down, leading to significant traffic backups extending toward Interstate 285. Emergency medical crews responded promptly to the scene.

Authorities advised drivers to use alternate routes such as Jonesboro Road or Old Dixie Highway to avoid the closures and heavy delays, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Additional crashes were reported near the traffic backup approaching I-285, with Exit 58 on I-285 closed, further complicating traffic in the area.

Officials continue to investigate the incident, and motorists are urged to stay updated through local traffic alerts as the situation develops.
