Two arrested in Ocean Beach after psilocybin gummies given to trick-or-treaters

Two men were arrested in Ocean Beach after bags of psilocybin-infused gummies were left on a porch for trick-or-treaters on Halloween night, FOX 5 San Diego reported. Around 15 children between the ages of 1 and 6 reportedly took the gummies before parents discovered the packages and suspected they contained controlled substances.

Parents confronted the residents and filed a police report, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). A saved package tested positive for psilocybin, prompting SDPD and narcotics officers to execute a search warrant at the residence on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.

During the search, authorities found more psilocybin gummies, over 2.5 pounds of cannabis, 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, and drug sales ledgers. They also seized an illegally possessed rifle, dozens of rounds of ammunition, and a partially assembled pistol.

One man, aged 80, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and the other, 45, was arrested for the same charges involving a firearm and ammunition. Both were booked into San Diego County Jail, FOX 5 San Diego reported.

Additionally, a city Code Compliance Investigator is looking into unpermitted living structures on the property. The investigation into narcotics and child endangerment remains ongoing.
