Coastal flood advisory issued for San Diego County through Tuesday
National Weather Service warns of minor to moderate coastal flooding and dangerous surf along San Diego beaches.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for San Diego County, effective from Friday at 4 a.m. until noon Tuesday, FOX 5 San Diego reported.
Officials expect minor to moderate coastal flooding along west-facing beaches, with surf heights reaching 3 to 4 feet and dangerous rip currents, according to the advisory.
The flooding could affect parking lots and parks near the coast, but only isolated road closures are anticipated. Residents and business owners in the advisory area are advised to prepare by using sandbags or barriers to reduce flood risk.
Beachgoers are reminded to stay vigilant and never turn their backs to the ocean, as tides can rise quickly and with force. The highest tides are forecasted for late mornings, with surf increasing starting Monday.
This advisory follows recent extreme high tides that caused flooding in Mission Bay, prompting the city to install extra sand berms and barriers to protect properties and roads in that area.
