Two people suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash early Sunday morning in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, according to FOX 5 DC.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded around 5 a.m. to the intersection of Randolph Road and Bluhill Road, where a vehicle struck a utility pole and flipped over, pinning a person underneath the overturned vehicle.

The collision caused the utility pole to snap, bringing down live electrical wires onto the vehicle, creating a hazardous scene for responders.

Emergency personnel treated two trauma patients at the scene, both with critical injuries. Authorities have not released further details on their conditions or the crash cause.

The downed pole and power lines blocked both directions of Randolph Road, and drivers were advised to avoid the area while emergency and utility crews worked.

The information was provided by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Public Information Officer Pete Piringer and reported by FOX 5 DC.
