USDA FSIS issues multiple public health alerts for undeclared allergens and contamination
FSIS alerts cover frozen meats with sesame and anchovy, jalapeños with Salmonella, and other products with allergen risks.
The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued several public health alerts concerning various meat and poultry products with undeclared allergens and potential contamination, according to newsroomamerica.com.
One alert involves frozen, not ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that contain undeclared sesame and, in a beef product, anchovy-based Worcestershire sauce. FSIS did not request a recall for these items.
Another alert focuses on meat and poultry products containing jalapeños that were recalled by the FDA due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers and retailers are advised to discard or return these items to avoid illness.
Additional alerts include Curry Chicken Salad potentially contaminated with Listeria, with consumers in Oregon and Washington urged to discard the product; Red's All Natural Steak Burrito containing undeclared egg, affecting consumers in Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota; and GoodTimes Beef Jerky's teriyaki flavor with undeclared wheat distributed in Oklahoma, which is no longer for sale but should be discarded if found.
These alerts highlight ongoing FSIS efforts to inform the public about food safety risks related to undeclared allergens and contamination in meat and poultry products.
Consumers are advised to check for these products in their homes and follow FSIS guidance to discard or return affected items to prevent health risks.
