A water main break occurred around 7:35 a.m. near Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood, according to CBS News Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported that an 8-inch mainline broke, leading to the closure of all eastbound lanes of Sunset Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Las Palmas Avenue until further notice.

Aerial footage showed water flooding the street, and LADWP crews responded quickly to shut off the water supply to assess the damage.

LADWP officials said they must proceed carefully to avoid causing issues elsewhere in the pressurized water system.

Several roads in Hollywood remain closed as crews work to repair the break and restore normal traffic flow.
