Los Angeles police arrested a woman wanted for a September hit-and-run that killed a 16-year-old boy and severely injured his sister.
Los Angeles police have arrested a 28-year-old woman in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred on September 22, 2026, in South Los Angeles, CBS News Los Angeles reported. The crash involved a blue Nissan Sentra speeding through the intersection of 60th Street and 10th Avenue, where the woman ran a stop sign and struck two pedestrians.
The collision resulted in the death of 16-year-old Hernan Martinez and left his 14-year-old sister Vicky with severe injuries requiring hospitalization, according to CBS News Los Angeles. The woman, identified as Raygine Glentasia Evans, was driving over 80 mph at the time of the crash.
Following the collision, Evans and a passenger fled the scene on foot after taking some items from the car. They were later picked up by an unknown driver in a red Honda Accord, LAPD detectives said.
Evans was also wanted for a series of robberies across Los Angeles County, including 10 within LAPD jurisdiction, and had nine prior tickets for reckless driving and running stop signs, CBS News Los Angeles reported. She was booked on charges including murder, grand theft, and shoplifting with priors, and held on $3.2 million bail.
Los Angeles City Council and police officials planned to provide more details about the arrest and investigation during a news conference, where family members of the victims were also expected to speak.
