13-year-old boy shot multiple times at Summerhill apartment complex

Atlanta police are investigating after a 13-year-old boy was shot multiple times early Sunday at the Capitol Vanira apartments in the 900 block of Hank Aaron Drive SW, Atlanta News First reported.

The boy's mother told Atlanta News First her son was shot four times while he was asleep but was conscious when taken for treatment. He has since been released from the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Investigators found evidence that more than 100 shots were fired at the scene, which was cordoned off with yellow tape. Police have not named any suspects or provided information on a motive.

This shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the area. In September, a 15-year-old boy was shot near the same complex in an investigation led by the Atlanta Police Gang Unit. Earlier in April, a 3-year-old boy was fatally shot several blocks away.
