Adobe Books vandalized three times in six days on 24th Street
San Francisco's Adobe Books on 24th Street has been repeatedly vandalized with paint, leaving the storefront obscured and volunteers concerned.
Adobe Books, a well-known bookstore located at 3130 24th Street in San Francisco, has been vandalized three times within six days, according to Mission Local.
The first incident occurred on Sunday, October 25, when white paint was splattered on the bookstore's security gate, front door, and windows. The following day, the store was hit again with pink paint. By Friday morning, red paint covered the storefront, making it difficult to see inside.
The usual storefront display, which includes carts filled with books and an a-frame sign advertising events, has been removed by the store's volunteers, who operate the bookstore as a co-op. They fear these items might also be targeted by vandals.
Volunteers have attempted to clean the paint from the windows and sidewalk, but the repeated vandalism has made it challenging. One volunteer expressed uncertainty about continuing cleanup efforts if the vandalism persists.
The paint has obscured the windows with multiple layers, and large drips on the sidewalk resemble an abstract painting, further impacting the bookstore's visibility and presence on 24th Street.
