Santa Clara County has observed a rise in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents near its jail facilities, according to San José Spotlight.

This increase comes even though the county has declared its properties off limits to immigration officers, signaling a conflict between local policies and federal actions.

On a recent Wednesday night, volunteers from the Rapid Response Network reported ICE agents pursuing a vehicle leaving the Elmwood Correctional Facility with two individuals inside.

County officials have been described as standing back while the federal presence escalates around county jails, a situation that has drawn attention from community groups monitoring the situation.
