American Airlines funds scholarships and offers tuition discounts to boost aviation maintenance workforce in Charlotte.
American Airlines has teamed up with the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) to enhance aviation career opportunities in Charlotte, WFAE reported.
The airline is providing $25,000 in scholarships for Charlotte-area high school seniors enrolled in AIM’s dual-credit aviation maintenance program, aiming to encourage local talent development.
Additionally, workers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, regardless of employer, receive a 10% tuition discount through this partnership, which could save an average of about $5,000 during their training, according to AIM.
Students benefit from mentorship by American Airlines maintenance technicians and gain access to the airline’s maintenance facilities. Top graduates with FAA certification are guaranteed job interviews, helping to strengthen the local skilled aviation maintenance workforce.
