Apple AirPods announce emoji reactions, users want control to disable

Business Insider reported that Apple AirPods currently announce emoji reactions, such as thumbs-up or heart emojis, when received in iMessage while wearing the headphones.

This feature is useful for hearing new text messages without looking at the phone, especially when users are busy or on the go, like at the gym or grocery store.

However, users find the announcements of emoji reactions unnecessary and distracting, as there is no option to disable only these reaction notifications without turning off all message announcements.

Currently, users can choose to hear only time-sensitive and direct messages, but emoji reaction notifications still persist under these settings.

The report suggests that Apple could improve user experience by adding more granular controls to manage which types of iMessage notifications are announced through AirPods.
