Apple unable to predict when iPhone Duo supply will meet demand
Apple faces ongoing supply constraints and shipping delays for its new iPhone Duo amid rising memory chip costs.
Apple is currently experiencing supply constraints for its newly launched iPhone Duo, with shipping delays extending into next year, according to TechCrunch. The company's Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan stated that while production is ramping up, it is difficult to predict when supply and demand will balance out.
Apple CEO John Ternus echoed this uncertainty in an interview with Reuters reported by The Verge, saying the company is working hard to meet customer demand but cannot provide a timeline for resolving supply shortages. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, launched last month with preorders selling out quickly and some shipments expected in 2027.
The supply issues come amid rising costs for memory chips, driven by strong demand from the AI industry, which Apple executives described as unprecedented. These increased component costs have led Apple to reluctantly raise prices on several products, including higher starting prices for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models.
Apple has also addressed a small number of iPhone Duo returns due to cracked screens, stating that affected devices are being replaced. The company is deepening partnerships to improve supply chain capacity but has not provided further details on when supply constraints might ease.
