Authorities in Spain reported that a high-speed train collided with the rear of another train that had stopped on a central line, resulting in the derailment of two cars.

The crash has caused at least 30 fatalities, according to multiple news outlets including CBS News and NBC News.

Emergency crews and investigators are currently on the scene managing the incident and conducting investigations.

Initial reports varied on the death toll, with some sources citing at least 10 deaths, but authorities have since confirmed the higher number.

The collision occurred on the Madrid-Andalucía high-speed line, as noted by ABC News and regional officials.

Local media had earlier reported the crash involved two trains traveling in the same direction before the collision.
