The National Hurricane Center is tracking a low-pressure area in the Atlantic Ocean that may develop into a subtropical system, according to FOX 35 Orlando.

This disturbance is located several hundred miles south of Bermuda and has a 20% chance of formation within 48 hours and a 30% chance over the next seven days, the NHC reported.

Forecasters expect the system could gain subtropical characteristics as it moves across the Atlantic in the coming days.

Importantly for Central Florida residents, the NHC does not anticipate this potential storm to pose a direct threat to Florida or the U.S.

This season has been relatively quiet so far, with 10 named storms but only one hurricane, Isaias, noted by FOX 35 Orlando meteorologists.
