Holiday travel in 2026 is expected to be more expensive due to higher jet fuel prices, fewer available airline seats, and increased demand, according to reports from WPTV, KXLH, and KXLF.

Jet fuel prices have risen significantly compared to last year, with airlines passing some of those costs to travelers. Additionally, airlines are scheduling about 3% fewer domestic seats during the holiday season, contributing to higher prices.

Travel experts recommend flying on less popular days to save money, such as departing on November 23 or Thanksgiving Day for Thanksgiving travel, and avoiding December 18-20 for Christmas travel. Traveling on December 21 or 22 could offer savings of up to 18%, according to Kayak.

Orlando, Florida, is highlighted as one of the 10 cheapest places to travel in December and a top warm-weather getaway by sources including Travel + Leisure and WalletHub. The city offers attractions like Universal Epic Universe, Walt Disney World, LEGOLAND Florida, and holiday festivals suitable for families.

Visitors can find additional savings through promotions on VisitOrlando.com, such as 10% off accommodations and complimentary breakfast. The site also features an AI-powered travel planning assistant called Opal to help travelers plan their trips efficiently.
