Brightline resumes Orlando to West Palm Beach service after flooding
Brightline has restarted its passenger rail service between Orlando and West Palm Beach following heavy flooding in Brevard County.
Brightline has resumed passenger service between Orlando and West Palm Beach after temporarily suspending operations due to extreme flooding in Brevard County, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The flooding, described by experts as a 100-year event, caused major damage to roads, homes, and businesses, leading to the suspension of some services and school closures in the area, according to FOX 35 Orlando.
Brightline worked with the Florida East Coast Railway and Brevard County Emergency Management to restart service once water levels receded, repairs were completed, and inspections of tracks, signals, and crossings were passed, the company said in a news release cited by FOX 35 Orlando.
Service between West Palm Beach and Miami, including stops in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton, was not affected, according to FOX 35 Orlando.
Passengers impacted by the suspension are being contacted about travel options, and officials advise checking the Brightline app and website for updates, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
