Oakland police are investigating a grand theft involving millions of dollars worth of Nvidia computer chips, KRON4 reported.

According to the East Bay Times, sophisticated thieves stole six pallets of Nvidia chips valued at $11.4 million. The pallets were scheduled for shipment to Fort Worth, Texas.

The pallets were picked up on August 29 by a truck bearing a food transportation company logo, but the truck and its drivers disappeared while en route south, with authorities losing track of it in San Bernardino County.

Before vanishing, the truck reportedly made several multi-hour stops. The theft was not reported until early September, and no arrests have been made so far.

Nvidia, headquartered in Santa Clara, is a major player in the AI industry.
