San Francisco attorney Harmeet Dhillon resigns from Trump DOJ post
Harmeet Dhillon steps down as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights after midterm elections, plans to return to local law practice.
A conservative San Francisco attorney, Harmeet Dhillon, has resigned from her position as Assistant Attorney General leading the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice under the Trump administration, KRON4 reported.
Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on X that he accepted Dhillon's resignation, praising her leadership of the Civil Rights Division over the past 18 months and her dedication to defending civil liberties and enforcing the law impartially.
Dhillon's departure follows a historic blowout midterm election victory for Democrats and marks the first exit from the Trump administration after the election results, a pattern not uncommon after such political shifts, according to KRON4.
In addition to her DOJ role, Dhillon served as a former Republican National Committeewoman for California and had advised former President Donald Trump on legal matters related to the 2020 presidential election results.
Dhillon expressed gratitude for her time at the DOJ and plans to return to her San Francisco-based law firm, the Dhillon Family Law Group, which maintains an office in downtown San Francisco, as reported by Politico and KRON4.
