A Baltimore homeowner used a hammer to fend off an intruder during a late-night break-in in the Morrell Park neighborhood, FOX45 Baltimore reported. The incident occurred around 11:29 p.m. on November 6 on the 2500 block of Washington Boulevard.

The homeowner's wife noticed a stranger crouching at the bottom of their stairs after their dog began barking persistently. She alerted her husband, a retired police officer, who confronted the intruder.

The homeowner said he struck the man with a hammer to gain control and check if the intruder was armed. His law enforcement training influenced his decision to ensure the intruder's hands were visible.

The incident highlights the homeowner's quick response and use of his training to protect his family and property during the break-in in Morrell Park.
