The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced that the Ben Sawyer Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, October 31, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. for continued repairs to the bridge's foundations, according to ABC News 4 WCIV and WCBD Count on 2.

This closure is part of ongoing efforts to fix mechanical issues that have caused the bridge to malfunction multiple times, including a previous problem with the main bridge span not locking back into place properly, WCIV reported.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during the two-hour closure and to slow down and remain alert for crews working in and around the work zone, as stated by SCDOT officials.
