North Charleston police arrested a 43-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in connection with a shooting that left another man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, ABC News 4 WCIV reported.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Ashley Phosphate Road shortly before noon after receiving a report of the shooting, according to Live 5 WCSC. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police identified Jarquez Antwan Hamilton as the shooter and obtained warrants for his arrest. He was located and apprehended without incident around 4:45 p.m. by North Charleston Police Department’s Intelligence-Led Policing Unit and K9 Unit, WCIV said.

Hamilton was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center, according to both WCIV and WCSC reports.
