The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged six women as part of an ongoing multi-county insurance fraud investigation, according to Live 5 WCSC. Among those charged is Robin Latee Smith, a 42-year-old woman from Williamsburg County.

Smith faces charges for presenting a false insurance claim valued between $2,000 and $10,000 and forgery valued under $10,000, WCBD reported. The investigation was initiated following a request from the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

According to ABC News 4 WCIV, Smith obtained multiple Alflac insurance policies on April 1, 2025, and subsequently filed claims for alleged ATV injuries and cancer treatments between April and June of that year. Medical providers confirmed she did not receive the treatments claimed.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Clarendon County Detention Center. After her arrest, five other women were charged in connection with the ongoing investigation, which spans multiple counties.

The investigation highlights ongoing efforts by SLED and the South Carolina Department of Insurance to address fraudulent insurance claims in the region.
