Bon Appetit editors shared their favorite kitchen items for October, highlighting a cast iron skillet as the top choice for cooking eggs without sticking. The editors noted that many people ask for nonstick pan recommendations due to issues with scratched or deteriorating coated pans.

Olivia Tarantino, senior shopping editor at Bon Appetit, emphasized that cast iron pans are often misunderstood as high maintenance. She explained that washing with soap and drying on the stovetop is simple and effective, and seasoning the pan initially helps maintain its slick surface.

The recommended pan is Field Company’s No. 5 Chef Skillet, which features sloped sides allowing easy flipping of eggs. At 7.5 inches, it is ideal for cooking two fried eggs or several sausage links, and it works on induction cooktops.

Editors also praised the skillet’s lightweight design and durability, stating that once seasoned, it remains slick longer than any coated nonstick pan. This makes it a reliable choice for everyday cooking.

Additionally, Bon Appetit highlighted the Year & Day Splatter Collection, particularly the Low Serving Bowl, as a versatile and stylish serving piece inspired by traditional Italian techniques.
