Russell Brand’s wife, Laura Brand, took the stand in his ongoing rape and sexual assault trial to provide testimony about their relationship, Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported. Laura Brand described feeling "very seen by him" and called him an "amazing husband."
Laura and Brand first dated in 2006 when she was 19 and he was 31, and their relationship developed at her own pace, with her feeling cared for and looked after, according to Laura's testimony. She also acknowledged that it was difficult for Brand to be monogamous, as he engaged with other women during their relationship.
The trial involves six women alleging offenses occurring between 1999 and 2009, with Brand denying three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted indecent assault. Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges and stated in court that no one with relevant evidence had agreed to testify on his behalf.
Laura Brand, whom he married in 2017 and with whom he shares three children, testified as a character witness for Brand.
The trial continues at Southwark Crown Court in London, with Laura Brand's testimony providing a character defense for Russell Brand amid the ongoing proceedings.
