California voters will not have to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote or when casting ballots, according to FOX40.
Proposition 39, a ballot measure that would have expanded voter ID requirements to include proof of citizenship, failed to pass in the recent election.
The measure would have required voters to provide citizenship proof during registration and to bring an ID to the polls on Election Day.
With the failure of Prop 39, current voter registration and identification rules remain unchanged in California, including Sacramento and surrounding areas.
