Yahoo Sports reported that Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has been placed on injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain. The injury will sideline him for approximately 4 to 5 weeks, with a potential return around Weeks 13 or 14 of the NFL season.

Love had previously been managing a different ankle sprain before this latest injury. This development is significant for fantasy football managers who invested heavily in the rookie, especially as the fantasy regular season approaches its critical stages.

The Cardinals are currently a struggling team unlikely to make the postseason, reducing the incentive to rush Love back onto the field. Even after physical clearance, a cautious return with limited snaps is expected.

Yahoo Sports noted that fantasy managers with an IR spot should place Love there. However, those with limited bench space or in a playoff fight might consider dropping him.

The injury opens up a waiver wire opportunity for Week 9 and beyond, though the sources do not explicitly link this to Tyler Allgeier.

Fantasy football waiver wire options for Week 9 also include quarterbacks JJ McCarthy and Geno Smith, though these are separate topics from Love's injury.

Fantasy managers will be watching how the Cardinals' backfield usage changes during Love's absence and which players emerge as key fantasy options in the coming weeks.
