The children of retired San Francisco Police Department Deputy Chief Ann Mannix and her daughter Katie spoke publicly for the first time at their funeral on Friday, according to the San Francisco Standard.

The funeral Mass was held at St. Ignatius Church and attended by family members, police officers, and city leaders, including Mayor Daniel Lurie, the report said.

Ann Mannix served 34 years with the San Francisco Police Department. She and her daughter Katie, 24, were killed nearly two weeks earlier at their home in Marin County, allegedly by Ann's husband and Katie's father, retired Officer Kevin Mannix.

At the service, Lauren Mannix, one of the surviving children, described her mother as “the best mother I could have ever asked for,” who provided love and support through difficult times, the Standard reported.
