Coastal flood watch in effect for Miami-Dade and Broward until Tuesday morning
NWS warns of significant coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents in Miami area through Tuesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Watch for coastal areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties starting late Sunday night and lasting until Tuesday morning, according to the NWS Miami office.
This watch indicates the possibility of significant coastal flooding, with moderate flooding already expected under a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until early Monday morning. Dangerous rip currents are also expected through Monday evening.
Impacts may include numerous road closures and flooding of low-lying properties including homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Some shoreline erosion is also possible during this period.
The NWS advises residents and visitors to be cautious near the shore as rip currents can be strong enough to pull even experienced swimmers into deeper water. It is important to stay informed and avoid flood-prone areas during the watch period.
