Columbus doctor and clinic manager plead guilty in $1.6M Medicaid fraud case
A Columbus doctor and his clinic manager admitted guilt in a scheme defrauding Medicaid by over $1.6 million.
A Columbus doctor and his clinic manager from Lima pleaded guilty to charges related to a Medicaid fraud scheme exceeding $1.6 million, WLIO reported.
The Ohio Attorney General’s office stated that Dr. Patrick Muffley admitted to felony theft and Medicaid fraud in Franklin County court. His clinic manager, Lisa Fillhart, also pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud and unlicensed nursing practice.
Investigations by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit uncovered over 27,000 fraudulent Medicaid claims and falsified records from Muffley’s addiction management clinic in Columbus, spanning five years.
Fillhart, who falsely claimed to be a nurse and provided medical advice without a license, received a sentence of 12 months community control. She resigned from her position on the Bath Township Board of Trustees.
Bath Township officials clarified that Fillhart’s criminal charges are related solely to her private employment and do not involve township operations or funds.
