Elizabeth City and the surrounding areas can expect cooler weather through the week, according to WITN. Afternoon temperatures will remain in the 60s and upper 50s with clear skies and calm winds continuing into Monday.

Overnight lows will fall to the mid-40s early in the week, then warm slightly to the lower 40s by midweek as a mix of clouds and sunshine settles in. Rain chances are low during this period.

By late in the week, a cold front is expected to bring a few rain showers on Friday, with temperatures dropping into the 50s for highs and the lower 30s overnight. This drop raises the possibility of frost in the Elizabeth City area.

WITN advises residents to keep a light jacket handy and be prepared for the chillier air and potential frost late in the week. Tropical activity remains quiet in the Atlantic and Gulf Basins at this time.
