The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Elizabeth City and surrounding areas until 8 PM Eastern Standard Time today, November 6. The watch includes several counties in northeast North Carolina such as Pasquotank, Camden, and Perquimans.

The NWS warns that excessive rainfall from a cold front moving through the region could cause flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas. Localized rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible due to storms that may repeatedly pass over the same locations.

Residents are advised to be cautious as storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris, increasing flood risk. The NWS recommends staying informed through their website and avoiding flood-prone areas during heavy rain.

People should monitor local weather updates and be prepared to take action if flooding occurs. The watch remains in effect until 8 PM this evening, after which conditions will be reassessed.
