A tropical system located south of Bermuda currently has a 40% chance of developing over the next seven days, according to WITN.

Forecasters expect the system to stay well offshore and possibly develop subtropical characteristics this weekend, but it is not expected to impact any landmasses, including Eastern North Carolina.

The system is experiencing favorable conditions for subtropical development now but these conditions are expected to worsen by the weekend, reducing the likelihood of development.

With the last month of hurricane season underway, chances of tropical development remain low, especially for systems near the central Atlantic, and late-season storms typically form in the Gulf or Caribbean, WITN reported.
