Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen told FOX45 Baltimore he expects to decide by early next year whether to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028 or seek reelection to his Senate seat.

Van Hollen said he has been visiting many states and will continue reaching out to Marylanders and others nationwide as part of his decision process.

He also expressed that the Democratic Party needs a more populist economic agenda to respond to voter demands seen in the recent midterm elections.

The senator questioned whether the current party leadership is prepared to deliver the changes voters sought on Election Day.

Van Hollen confirmed he will attend the upcoming What's Next summit in Denver, where several prominent Democrats expected to be 2028 presidential contenders will gather.
