Truck driver sentenced for shooting into car on Interstate 83 in Baltimore County
Christian Ramos was sentenced for attempted first-degree murder after firing into a car near Shawan Road in Cockeysville.
Christian Ramos, a 30-year-old truck driver from Melrose Park, Illinois, was sentenced by a Baltimore County Circuit Judge for attempted first-degree murder and related crimes, The Baltimore Banner reported.
The shooting occurred just before midnight on June 18, 2025, when Ramos fired a bullet through the front passenger side window of a car carrying three people near Shawan Road in Cockeysville. Fortunately, no one was physically injured.
During the investigation, Maryland State Police discovered Ramos was also linked to three additional shootings on Interstate 83 in Pennsylvania. Authorities identified him through dash camera footage and interviews, eventually locating him at a travel center in Elkton.
A search of Ramos’s tractor trailer uncovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and multiple cartridge casings, according to law enforcement.
Assistant State’s Attorney Joe Dominick described the shooting as extremely serious and unprovoked, emphasizing that Ramos endangered not only the occupants of the targeted vehicle but also other drivers on the road. The sentencing guidelines recommended 12 to 37 years in prison.
Ramos remains charged in York County, Pennsylvania, with four counts of attempted criminal homicide and related offenses, indicating ongoing legal proceedings outside Maryland.
