The race for Florida's 26th Congressional District remains undecided following a data entry error that caused incorrect vote totals to appear, CBS News Miami reported. The Democratic candidate initially believed she had won after early results showed her ahead, but those totals later changed.

The Associated Press attributed the confusion to a data entry mistake and stated it quickly identified and corrected the error. The AP has not declared a winner in the race, according to CBS News Miami.

Republican incumbent Mario Diaz-Balart expressed confidence that he would prevail and claimed the race was over. Meanwhile, the Democratic challenger raised questions about the vote totals, noting a removal of about 3,000 votes reported late Tuesday night and approximately 1,800 outstanding votes in Broward County.

Broward County Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott welcomed scrutiny and said the office was transparent with the tabulation process and prepared to present evidence regarding the vote counts. The Democratic candidate said further explanation is needed to understand what happened with the vote totals.

The situation highlights ongoing uncertainty in the race as election officials continue to review and clarify the vote counts in Miami-area Broward County and the broader 26th District.
